2026 iQFOiL International Games #2 at Cadiz, Spain - Day 4

by iQFOiL Class Association 12 Mar 22:25 GMT 7-13 March 2026

Lamadrid, Isaac, Ruiz López and Kabasakal among the leaders advancing directly to the Grand Finals

The 2026 iQFOiL International Games #2, organized by the Federación Andaluza de Vela in co-operation with the International iQFOiL Class Association, by delegation of the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Consejo Superior de Deportes, reached a crucial stage today in the waters of El Puerto de Santa María as the fleets battled to secure their places in tomorrow's Medal Series.

The Bay of Cádiz delivered a mix of conditions throughout the day, allowing the Race Committee to run a combination of Course Racing, Upwind Sprint and Downwind Sprint formats, allowing all six fleets to complete the scheduled 16 races in all the different formats. It kept the sailors on their toes and it made for a decisive day across all six fleets.

In the Senior Men's fleet, the fight for the top positions produced some of the most exciting racing of the day. Noah Lyons (USA) delivered a perfect performance, winning all of his races and climbing into second overall, securing a direct ticket to the Grand Final. Joining him there will be Mateus Isaac (BRA), who after a remarkably consistent week retains the overall lead and also advances directly to the final showdown tomorrow.

The Senior Women's fleet provided plenty of drama as well. Local Olympic sailor Pilar Lamadrid (ESP) continued her dominant run and secures a place in the Grand Final, where she will be joined by Nela Sadilkova (CZE). Behind them, the Czech team faced a more challenging day, allowing Dominique Stater (GER) and Lina Erzen (SLO) to capitalize and move directly into the Semi-Finals thanks in part to the introduction of the third discard.

One of the most remarkable stories of the day came from Merve Vatan (TUR). Starting the day in 12th position, the Turkish sailor steadily worked her way up the rankings. Heading into the final race she needed a strong result, and a sixth-place finish proved just enough to secure her a place in tomorrow's Medal Series.

In the U19 Men's fleet, the top of the leaderboard remains unchanged from yesterday. Jorge Ruiz López (ESP) and Peyton Dits (NED) maintain their commanding positions and advance directly to the Grand Final. A notable late surge came from Milo Zaal (NED), who managed to climb from 12th place into the Medal Series.

The U19 Women's fleet also delivered tight competition. Thea Le Borgne Zibetti (FRA) retains the overall lead and secures her place in the Grand Final, where she will be joined by Salomé Simon (FRA).

In the U17 Girls' fleet, Parla Kabasakal (TUR) and Anna Jannieke Korevaar (NED) will face each other in the Grand Final after their intense rivalry throughout the week. The Semi-Final will see Maria Miarczynska (POL) and Martyna Figura (POL) battling for the remaining place on the podium among the other two sailors coming from the quarter final.

In the U17 Boys, Swann Manhaval (FRA) and Enric Patino Riutord (ESP) advance directly to the Grand Final, while Frantisek Burda (CZE) and Gonzalo Ruiz Mendez (ESP) secure their spots in the Semi-Final.

With the Medal Series now set across all fleets, everything is ready for the final showdown tomorrow in Cádiz, where the winners of the 2026 iQFOiL International Games #2 will be decided.
