Aquila Catamarans premieres the 50 Sail at the Miami International Boat Show 2026

Aquila Catamarans has premiered the 50 Sail at the 2026 Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), raising the sails on a new chapter for the catamaran manufacturer. It is the first sailing model launched by Aquila, harnessing its proven reputation for building high-quality, innovative and durable power catamarans. The launch of Aquila's sailing range is driven by its leadership team's passion and extensive experience of sailing at a highly competitive level across generations.

Signature Design

Developed in collaboration with long-standing design partners JnJ Design, the 50 Sail maximizes space, functionality, cruising comfort, and quality. Aquila's signature design is evident throughout in both form and function, with features like bridge-to-bow stairs for easy access and clean, contemporary lines throughout. A fixed forward cockpit creates a social zone, with a large bow seating area for lounging and socializing.

With comfortable seating and ample room, it offers an ideal setting for dining, sunbathing, or relaxing while cruising the open waters.

The well-appointed salon and galley features a stylish, modern design and panoramic windows to maximize natural light. Equipped with high-end amenities and a seamless layout, it offers both comfort and functionality for extended journeys.

It also has bridge-to-bow access for easy movement from flybridge to the forward bow cockpit.

Below Deck

There is a choice of four, five, or six cabin configurations located in each of the hulls with extensive head height and storage throughout. Each cabin maintains complete privacy with its own private entrance and features ensuite facilities with walk-in showers.

The owner's cabin offers a spacious, private retreat with large hull-side windows, providing ample natural light and a comfortable, luxurious atmosphere. With generous storage, a queen-sized bed, and en-suite head with washer/dryer utility area, it ensures both relaxation and convenience during extended voyages.

Choice of Propulsion

Propulsion options are open to suit different cruising styles, with either diesel engines or Hybrid Ocean Drive™ available, providing silent electric propulsion with diesel power available when conditions demand it.

Born From Seasoned Sailors

Sailing is at the heart of the Aquila leadership team's DNA. Lex Raas, Co-Founder, started racing sailboats when he was just four years old and has sailed in many international sailing events. His sons, Jean Raas, Chief Product Officer and CEO/Aquila USA, and Alain Raas, Global Brand Director, have continued the sailing legacy. Jean was a member of the USA Sailing team for three years and participated in sailing events throughout the world, including taking part in the 2000 Olympic trials for Team USA. While Alain sailed competitively from an early age and has completed numerous long-distance sailings, including trans-Pacific crossings.

Nick Harvey, Chief Revenue Officer, has been a passionate sailor all his life and offers vast sailing catamaran knowledge from previous roles in the sailing industry. Aquila Global Service Manager, Gareth Wood, has captained various large sailing catamarans for owners, while Jure Zule, Chief Designer, started sailing recreationally and competitively at a young age.

Meanwhile, Frank Xiong, CEO of Sino Eagle Group, which manufactures the Aquila portfolio, has extensive experience building sailing catamarans.

Together, they have a wealth of industry-leading knowledge, experience and insight that has shaped the Aquila Sail range.

Jean Raas, Chief Product Officer & CEO of Aquila USA, said: "Introducing our Sail range was a natural evolution for Aquila and marks an exciting new chapter in our journey as a global boat manufacturer. Our team brings decades of hands-on sailing knowledge and industry experience, which we've drawn upon to enter the sailing market with intention and precision. The 50 Sail embodies this expertise, and we are delighted to showcase her at the 2026 Miami International Boat Show."

The Sail range will also feature the 44 Sail and flagship 65 Sail, due to launch Sep/Oct 2026 and Sep/Oct 2027 respectively.

The 50 Sail will be at MIBS until February 15, 2026. To book a tour, visit: www.aquilaboats.com/events/boat-shows/miami-international-boat-show
