Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club Classic Yacht Regatta to be held in April

by Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club 9 Feb 07:48 GMT 11 April 2026

The Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Classic Yacht Regatta, to be held on Saturday, 11 April 2026, on the iconic waters of Sydney Harbour.

This exciting new regatta celebrates the timeless elegance, craftsmanship and heritage of classic yachts, and is open to monohull displacement yachts built to a pre-1975 design, as well as vessels with a conventional profile in the true spirit of Classic Yachting.

Eligible yachts include, but are not limited to, Dragons, Etchells, E30s, 5.5m, 6m and 8m classes, Couta Boats, Ranger Classes and Historic Sailing Skiffs, including boats constructed after 1975 that reflect classic design principles.

Racing will be conducted under both the SailSys Performance Handicapping System (PHS) and IRC (standard and endorsed certificates), ensuring competitive and engaging racing across the fleet.

The regatta weekend will be complemented by a vibrant social program. Attendance is open to guests with paid admission, on Friday evening, 10 April 2026, for a Cocktail Party and Dinner at the Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club Clubhouse. Following racing on Saturday, all crew members are warmly invited back to the Clubhouse for a relaxed BBQ and prize presentation.

A limited number of RPEYC moorings will be available for visiting yachts, with a tender service provided for convenience.

The Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club aims to establish the Classic Yacht Regatta as a premier annual sailing spectacle, showcasing classic yachts against the breathtaking backdrop of Sydney Harbour while honouring the traditions and camaraderie that define our Club.

We are delighted to introduce this bold new addition to our sailing calendar and look forward to welcoming competitors, owners and supporters to what promises to be a memorable on-water and social occasion.

Further information is outlined in the accompanying poster. We hope you will join us in making the RPEYC Classic Yacht Regatta a celebration worthy of the classics.
