The 2025 29er World Championship officially kicks off this week, with the Opening Ceremony today (13th December), and racing starting on Sunday.

This year's edition brings together a highly competitive fleet, featuring 30 Men/Mixed teams and 22 Female teams from around the world.

The 29er Class will also be represented on site by Larry, our International Coaching Development Manager, who will be supporting all teams and helping ensure a great experience for every sailor.

Looking back: Poland's dominance in 2024

Last season, Poland stood out with exceptional performances in both categories:

Alicja Dampc & Alicja Tutkowska claimed the Women's World Championship, while Ewa Lewandowska & Krzysztof Królik delivered one of the strongest performances in the Open fleet.

With the bar set incredibly high, all eyes are now on the new contenders.

Who will claim the 2025 titles?

New talent, returning champions, and tight international competition promise an exciting week of racing.

On the female side, expectations are high.
Antonina Puchowska and Alicja Dampc, recently nominated for World Sailor of the Year, arrive as clear favorites after an impressive season.

Marie and Antonia Schwarz— winners of the 2025 EuroCup Women's Ranking — have shown remarkable speed and consistency throughout the season and will surely be contenders for the podium.

Among the rising talents, Bianca Marchesini and Lucia Finato are definitely a team to watch. Despite this being their first year in the 29er class, they have already claimed the U17 World Championship title and finished second overall in the women's fleet — an impressive result that adds even more excitement to their Youth Worlds debut.

On the men's/mixed side, the level is just as high. Enrico Coslovich and Giuseppe Montesano return to the Youth Worlds after competing last year — they are the current Italian Champions and finished 19th at the 29er Worlds, making them one of the most solid teams on the starting line.

From Argentina, Félix Llauro and Juani Crespo also bring strong experience, having placed 21st at the Worlds, while Swiss sailors Ikke Huber and Liam Berger come in after an excellent 15th place at the Worlds.

The UK team Jac Bailey and Ben Sinfield, 25th at the Worlds, will also be aiming to climb the rankings this year.

A standout pair to keep an eye on is Soma Kis-Szölgyémi and Sámuel András Juhász, currently ranked 4th in the world — one of the strongest teams in the fleet.

Poland adds even more depth with Szymon Kolka and Bartosz Zmudzinski, a duo known for consistency and speed, while France fields another competitive team with Nolann Huet Des Aunay and Titouan Gresset.
