Race Day 3 of the 2025 EurILCA Team Racing European Championship in Athens began early with the first warning signal at 08:00 AM, as sailors were greeted by a steady 5-knot breeze.

This allowed the fleet to complete a good number of races in the morning. However, as the wind began to weaken around midday, race officials made the decision to send sailors back to shore for a break.

Around 14:30, the breeze picked up again to 5-6 knots, and the sailors returned to the water to resume racing. Unfortunately, by 16:00, the wind dropped once more, leading to another pause in the day's events. With no improvement in the conditions, the decision was made to call it a day.

In total, 15 races were completed today, bringing the overall race count to 48. With the competition nearing its final day, all eyes are now on tomorrow’s showdown to determine the champions.

Day 3 race highlights

The standings have remained tight at the top, with Italy, Greece, and Sweden 2 leading now the pack. After 8 races, the leaders count with 7 wins, followed by Sweden 1 with 6 wins, France with 5 wins, and Bulgaria with 4 wins. Germany 1, Germany 2, and Ireland all have 3 wins. Lithuania has 2 wins, Serbia 1 has 1 win, and Serbia 2 has yet to win a race.

After a long day of racing, all sailors, coaches, and staff were treated to a well-deserved break by the host club, Yacht Club of Greece, who provided a delicious spread of traditional Greek barbecue as a welcoming gesture to round off the day.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, the plan is to complete 12 more races, bringing the total number of races to 60. This will ensure that each team has raced 9 times before the event moves into its next phase. After the round-robin racing concludes, the competition will shift to the semi-finals and finals, where the top teams will battle it out for the European title.

The stage is set for an exciting conclusion to the championship tomorrow—don’t miss it!
