The Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) is urging all levels of Australian government to strategically back the nation's world-class marine manufacturing and recreational boating sector, warning that a critical skills shortage is threatening the industry's massive economic potential.

The call comes as BIA releases its latest industry data, highlighting the recreational marine sector's status as a major contributor to the national economy and one of Australia's leading recreational pastimes with millions participating annually.

BIA and Marine Jobs were invited by Queensland Government to exhibit at Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition. Taking place at the ICC Sydney, the event showcases Queensland's Defence marine sector capabilities of which skills and training are key capabilities. Attending this event has enabled BIA and Marine Jobs to meet key Defence supply chain businesses which include engineering, refit and repair, construction, communications and control systems as well as shipyards and slipways.

Planning to attend Marinas26? The MIA has prepared a Business Case support document to help you clearly demonstrate the value of participation to your organisation. Taking place 25-27 May at Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast, is the Asia-Pacific's largest dedicated marina industry event, featuring 22 expert-led conference sessions on operations, AI, legal compliance, sustainability, superyacht management and more, plus a trade exhibition with over 60 leading suppliers showcasing the latest innovations.

Superyacht Australia is pleased to announce the return of the Australian Superyacht Conference in 2026, debuting in a new Sydney location with a refreshed format and industry focus; the conference will now take place immediately following the inaugural Sydney Charter Show, creating an exciting week of activity. The Sydney Charter Show, to be held on 22-23 February at Jones Bay Superyacht Marina, will set the stage for the Conference, offering a dedicated showcase of Australia and the South Pacific's charter potential.

Bulgarian luxury catamaran manufacturer Omaya Yachts has selected Peter Hansen Yacht Brokers Raby Bay to represent the brand in Australia, bringing European design excellence to the growing Australian luxury yacht market. As a result of the agreement signed with dealer Boatology, Evo Yachts boats will now be distributed in Australia and New Zealand. To celebrate their partnership, Evo Yachts and Boatology will have a joint presence at the Sydney Boat Show, held 13-16 November in Cockle Bay Marina. Headquartered in Drummoyne, Boatology's decision to represent Evo Yachts is based on the brand's appealing combination of innovation, style and functionality.

Greenline Yachts has announced the launch of the highly anticipated Greenline 42, a model that marks an important new chapter in the brand's ongoing evolution. While Greenline is widely recognised for leading the marine industry with hybrid technology since 2008, the Greenline 42 is equally defined by its new styling direction, its advanced technical build, and its increased emphasis on performance and onboard comfort.

In New Zealand, Rayglass Boats has successfully completed the first in-house lamination of its 380 Wide Body Protector model at its new, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Takanini, Auckland. The achievement marks a significant step forward in Rayglass's production capabilities and supports the company's commitment to innovation, quality, and growth.

Marine Rescue Bermagui calls for more volunteers to help save lives at sea. Saving lives on the water is Marine Rescue Bermagui Unit Commander Jim Anderson's main mission but he's equally focused on growing the unit's volunteer numbers. The South Coast unit currently has 32 volunteers, which Anderson admits is a little on the lean side. He's encouraging more community members to join the service and help keep local waterways safe.
