Steering into 2026, The Boat Works unveils 'Pier 25', taking the premier marine destination to the next level.

A multi-storey, architect-designed building at the entry of The Boat Works, Pier 25 will feature premium marine showrooms and multi-level marine office space to provide even more opportunities for marine professionals to dock within one of the Southern Hemisphere's busiest and most dynamic marine hubs. The Boat Works is currently home to over 100 individual marine businesses, many of which have established their national headquarters at the facility, making it a multi-faceted "ecosystem" for the region.

Also, in Queensland and when leaders of the boating industry unite for safer, smarter boat storage solutions, great things happen. Discover Boating Australia has partnered with key South East Queensland marinas to launch a region-wide Dry Stack Promotional Campaign to improve awareness of the benefits of dry stack storage, accessibility and promote responsible boating - a powerful example of when a sector bands together to support its community.

Further south, Marine Rescue NSW has ramped up its presence on Sydney Harbour for the busy summer boating period, with volunteers from Marine Rescue Middle Harbour and Marine Rescue Port Jackson providing daylight coverage seven days a week throughout December and January, starting 1 December. Crews will also remain on call overnight to respond to emergencies. Acting Deputy Commissioner Dan Duemmer said the enhanced coverage reflects the high volume of recreational boaters expected on the state's busiest waterway.

Superyacht Australia is pleased to announce the Platinum Partners for the first ever Sydney Charter Show to be held 22-23 February at Jones Bay Superyacht Marina. The members confirmed include Ankor Software, Echo Yachts, Jones Bay Superyacht Marina and Pantaenius Australia. Their partnership also extends to the Australian Superyacht Conference, which follows the Charter Show on 24 February, heralding a new location, date and with a refreshed format and focus on the future of the superyacht charter industry.

Even further south, Daved Lambert has been appointed Vice President of the BIAV by his fellow Board Members. A Board Member since 2019, Daved brings extensive business expertise, in-depth industry knowledge, and a genuine passion for boating to the executive team. President Scott O'Hare welcomed the appointment, noting: "Daved has already contributed an enormous amount to BIAV, particularly in relation to our building sale, investment portfolio, and major projects."

Across the ditch, Emirates Team New Zealand collected the top honour at the Barfoot & Thompson Yachting Excellence Awards on 28 November, with the inaugural Peter Lester Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sailing also introduced in honour of the much-loved late sailor, coach, and commentator. The America's Cup defenders received the Sir Bernard Fergusson Trophy as Orbit World Travel Sailor of the Year following their third consecutive victory in the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup in Barcelona last year.

UK based Flexiteek International has signalled a new direction for the product in the Australian marketplace appointing NAVALE as their commercial partners for the region. The new fabrication hub in Ballina NSW will provide services and distribution, ensuring that the support and professionalism Flexiteek customers are familiar with around the world is delivered in Australia. The roll out of this new distribution and fabrication partnership comes at the same time as Flexiteek is moving to the next generation of composite decking.
