The 2025 Phantom Super Series, sponsored by GJW Direct saw competitive racing across seven venues, showcasing the best of single-handed sailing in the UK. One event was held in each of our racing regions, plus our Inland and National Championships, at:

  • Stone Sailing Club (5-6 April)
  • Northampton Sailing Club (26-27 April)
  • Burton Sailing Club - Inland Championships (7-8 June)
  • Lee-on-the-Solent Sailing Club (19-20 July)
  • Bassenthwaite Sailing Club (9-10 August)
  • Hooe Point Sailing Club - National Championships (19-21 September)
  • RWYC Final Fling (11-12 October)

With strong entries across the series, 20 sailors qualified (a further 16 were just 1 event short!). Peaking at 57 boats on the water for the Nationals — the competition was fierce and the standard of sailing exceptional.

This years GJW Direct Phantom Super Series top three were...

1st - Nick Orman (Castle Cove SC)

Nick dominated the second half of the series with top podium finishes. His performance at Castle Cove and the two final events on Plymouth waters, including a close second at the National Championships demonstrated consistently excellent sailing, earning him the overall win.

2nd - Sam Coxon (Chase SC)

Sam showed great form, competing in four events and maintaining a strong average. His ability to stay within the top five across multiple venues secured him second place overall.

3rd - John Harrison (Rudyard Lake SC)

John's standout result came at the Northampton Open, where he finished top of the podium. His constant performances were strong enough to earn him third place overall, highlighting the impact of quality over quantity in the series scoring.

Prize-giving

The series not only celebrated individual sailing excellence but also the spirit of the Phantom class with friendly, yet very competitive racing. With venues ranging from coastal waters to inland lakes, and conditions varying from a drifter to mental, the GJW Direct Phantom Super Series was a great test of versatility and skill.

Nick will be the first winner to hold the new Super Series Trophy, kindly donated by Andy Smith, It will be presented to Nick at the 2026 Phantom Inland to be held at Grafham Sailing Club, 15th - 17th May 2026.

What's next in 2026 for the Super Series?
