2025 IFCA Fin & Foil Slalom European Championships at Circolo Surf Torbole - Day 4

by Elena Giolai 18 Oct 2025 21:54 BST 14-19 October 2025

Another picture-perfect day at the IFCA European Championships Slalom Fin & Foil, organized by Circolo Surf Torbole in collaboration with IFCA (International Funboard Class Association) and under the authority of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV). Sunshine, warm temperatures and steady winds above 12 knots allowed the fleets to continue racing in the Fin slalom discipline, delivering another great show on Lake Garda and bringing the men's fourth elimination to completion.

For the Men's fleet, two eliminations were completed as in previous days, while the Women's fleet raced six single finals, bringing the total to twelve Fin races, matching the number of completed Foil races.

In the men's overall standings, Jordy Vonk (NED 69) from the Netherlands strengthened his lead with two wins and one second place (discarding a third), maintaining a five-point advantage over Taty Frans (Bonaire), who is second overall and first among the Masters, winning the second race of the day.

In third place sits Nicolas Prien (GER 7), just 0.6 points behind.

Tied two points off the podium are Malte Reuscher (GER 777) and Bruno Martini (ITA 160), the latter representing the host club Circolo Surf Torbole.

An excellent sixth place overall and first Youth goes to Sacha Fortune (FRA 751), while Andrea Cucchi (ITA 1), second Master, has climbed back to 11th place.

In the Women's fleet, there were no major changes in the rankings: Justine Lemeteyer (FRA 171) remains firmly in the lead also in the Fin discipline, followed by Femke van der Veen (NED 2251) and Charlotte Philip (FRA 191).

The women have now completed 12 races in both Foil and Fin categories.

On the eve of the final day, the Championship confirms its high technical and organizational level, with ideal wind conditions that have consistently exceeded 10-11 knots over the last four days, ensuring exciting racing and spectacular action on Garda Trentino.

For tomorrow, Sunday, October 19, the program - weather permitting - includes one Fin and one Foil slalom race to close the 2025 IFCA European Championships in the best possible way.

Meanwhile, there is a strong sense of satisfaction among the Circolo Surf Torbole staff, the International Class representatives, and the Race Committee for the high number of completed races — always a challenge given the relatively high minimum wind limit required, especially for Fin slalom.
