HikoTerra redefines marine & mobile power systems with the introduction of H4 Hybrid Power System

by HikoTerra 16 Oct 13:49 BST

HikoTerra, innovator in mobile integrated power solutions, officially ushers in the next generation of marine power with the introduction of the H4 Hybrid Power System.

HikoTerra has been quietly working on the project for some time and is now set for a phase of rapid expansion, introducing its innovative, world-class technology to the market with the support of experienced founders, investors and leaders with a history of success. Offering an unparalleled level of efficiency, scalability, integration and ease of installation for marine and mobile power requirements, the H4 product line is designed as a battery-first system flexible enough to deliver a home-like user experience. Fully integrated, more compact and easier to maintain than traditional onboard power systems centered around a generator, the H4 sets the new standard for onboard energy storage and supply.

"Onboard systems are becoming increasingly more complex, putting greater demand on owners and operators to become intimately familiar with the design, operation and maintenance of their electronics and living systems, as well as the power systems that supply them," said Mark Harnett, CEO, HikoTerra. "The H4 is simple, modular and efficient, reduces reliance on generators and supports cleaner, quieter operation. With the H4 Hybrid Power System, users simply turn it on and use it, rather than managing their power supply equipment. In addition to the user benefits, the H4 Hybrid power system saves the installer or builder time, space, and reduces complexity across the entire installation workflow. Overall install time can be cut by up to 50%."

The H4 Hybrid Power System is comprised of four separate components: a high-efficiency bi-directional inverter, advanced LiFePO4 battery modules, intelligent battery charger and a mounting rack. The inverter is lightweight and offers 97% efficiency with low no-load power consumption, continuous operation at full rated power up to 40 degreesC, features solar inputs, and offers NMEA 2000, fiber-optic and ethernet connectivity. The latest-generation LiFePO4 8kWh battery has a built-in internal battery management system, shunt, fuses and safety disconnect switches, all making for a safer solution. It is a smart battery that will auto-disconnect from the rack in case of fault, allowing the system to operate using remaining batteries, eliminating downtime. The 200A battery charger can use multiple voltages for shore power input, has a built-in isolation transformer and dual 250A alternator inputs for charging off main engines while under way. The system can also restart completely discharged batteries from shore power or alternator, with no technician required.

At the heart of the system is the innovative rack and mounting design. The rack is modular allowing owners or boat builders to configure the physical rack layout depending on space and location requirements. The rack eliminates many of the external fuses and switches, and the internal backplane means most heavy gauge cables, lugs and bolts are not required. With a maximum capacity of 16 rack slots, 30kW inverter capacity, three charger modules and 12 batteries delivering 96kW hours of storage depending on requirements.

The establishment of a global distribution and service network is under way, the H4 will be available mid-2026 and will be covered by a 2-year warranty.
