Day Two at the Freestyle Pro Tour Geneva started with high hopes for Foilstyle, but nature had other plans. The original schedule promised a full day of Foilstyle heats followed by Tow-In action at sunset.
Riders were on standby from the morning, with the first possible start initially set for 10:30. However, as thick clouds rolled over Lake Geneva, the breeze never filled in, and the start was postponed again and again throughout the day.
With conditions too light to compete, the riders made the most of their time onshore — skateboards and slacklines came out, and a few even took to the water on pumpfoils to keep the energy up. Despite the slow pace, spirits stayed high as everyone waited for a window of wind that never came.
As the day drew to a close, things began to move quickly. The call was made to officially cancel Foilstyle for the day, replacing it with a sunset Tow-In Super Session. Before the action kicked off, we kicked off the action with a pre-show stream, diving into the Foilstyle format and hearing directly from riders about how the discipline has evolved in recent years.
The Tow-In fleet split into two groups, each with two spots in the finals up for grabs. In Group 1, Lennart Neubauer secured his place with a clean Triple Funnel, while Leander Halm caused an upset by beating both Tigo Kort and Sam Esteve with a powerful Culo 360. Group 2 went more according to the script — Yentel Caers continued his red-hot form from day one, landing another massive triple, and local hero Balz Müller sent it on the foil, sticking a Burner 360 to claim the final ticket to the showdown.
When the finals rolled around, Neubauer delivered a consistent and confident performance across all his runs to claim the win. Caers followed in second with an insanely stylish one-handed Burner that had the beach cheering, while Leander Halm rounded out the podium in third — a well-deserved result that highlighted how hard he's been pushing in recent months.
Tomorrow's plan includes the first round of Tow-In qualifications — but if the wind finally shows up, Foilstyle could still make its long-awaited debut. Stay tuned, because in Geneva, anything can happen.
