YYachts Y6 'Pocket Superyacht' set for 2026 debut

by Carbon Yachts 13 Aug 08:02 BST

Carbon Yachts, the exclusive representative for YYachts in Australia and New Zealand, is inviting expressions of interest for the new YYachts Y6. Penned by Bill Tripp for straightforward, owner-operated handling, the carbon-built Y6 is designed to be run by an owner—controlled solo or as a couple—without giving up comfort or aesthetics.

On deck, sail handling is deliberately simple: all halyards and sheets run aft to the helms, a self-tacking jib keeps trimming to a minimum, ensuring even longer cruising passages remain relaxed and manageable. A flush carbon hatch integrates tender stowage and a clean deck aesthetic, and the transom drops to form a waterfront sea terrace.

Below, the saloon pairs a lounge with a U-galley, creating a central social space. Forward, the owner's suite features a free-standing bed and ensuite, while aft, two twin guest cabins each have their own bathroom. Every Y6 is built to order, with owners choosing from four curated interior themes—Baltic, Milano, Sugi Ban, and Glacier—developed by the in-house YYachts Design Team led by Francesca Modica in collaboration with David Thulstrup. Each concept sets a clear material palette and mood, with the studio refining details alongside the owner so the yacht feels personal from day one.

"Clients in our region want a yacht that's genuinely owner-operated and genuinely their own," says Mary Bickley, Sales Manager at Carbon Yachts. "The Y6 answers that brief—carbon-built for a light, responsive feel, and curated through a studio process that turns four clear concepts into a finish that reflects the owner's taste."

Many Australasian owners opt for a European handover: the yard manages launch, rigging and export documentation in Germany, making it straightforward to commission and enjoy a season in Europe before relocating home by sail or ship. YYachts' Mediterranean office in Palma de Mallorca supports design and after-sales while cruising abroad.

"In the sailing world we're seeing a clear shift away from chasing size toward boats you can self-manage," says Peter Hrones, Co-Founder of Carbon Yachts. "Owners—especially those moving across from premium power—want control, privacy and time efficiency. The Y6's design is deliberate and geared entirely toward what's required and wanted: a sail plan manageable by a couple and a calm, considered interior you'll actually live in."
