Magic Marine is proud to support the re-establishment of the Optimist Round Hayling Race, a landmark youth sailing event first held in the 1980s and now returning to the water after a long hiatus.

The race date is Sunday 24th August 2025.

This unique 14-mile challenge sees young Optimist sailors (under 16) circumnavigate Hayling Island, experiencing a range of sailing conditions, from the sheltered waters of Chichester and Langstone Harbours to the challenging open sea of Hayling Bay. It promises to be both a test of endurance and a celebration of youthful skill and determination.

To ensure inclusivity and encourage broader participation, the event also features the Bridge and Back race, taking sailors as far as the Langstone Bridge, offering a taste of adventure for newer or younger competitors.

Magic Marine's support will bring live GPS tracking to the event, enabling friends, family, and coaches to follow the sailors' progress in real time. After the race, participants will be able to replay their course to analyse performance and understand where gains and losses were made.

George Kingsnorth, Managing Director of Magic Marine UK and Triggernaut Sport Glasses, commented: "It's fantastic to see the return of this iconic race. The Magic Marine Optimist Round Hayling is an incredible test for young sailors, and we're thrilled to support the next generation with technology that enhances both competition and learning. Watching these sailors tackle such a demanding course will be inspiring."

The entry list features a vibrant and competitive mix of newcomers and class champions, setting the stage for a spectacular return of this classic event.
