North launches new Wingfoil Race Collection and Mode Ultra 2025

Pinch even higher and reach even deeper at pace. Engineered with a VMG-optimised partial double skin for improved aerodynamic efficiency, lower drag and precise manoeuvres at higher speeds, North's new Mode Ultra delivers a faster, more controlled ride, giving you a clear performance advantage on the water.

VMG Dualskin - How does it work?

A lightweight canopy layer positioned on the underside of the leading edge helps to reduce drag. Like the full wing section profile of a Sail GP F50 race sail or the double skin found in the AC75, the new dual canopy significantly improves flow and increases lift. The reduction in drag results in greater top speeds and makes it slippery through lulls.

Faster upwind and downwind

The gains in efficiency also result in greater upwind angles and speed, improving the wing's VMG. We've also enhanced the wing's profile for downwind performance, allowing you to go deeper and faster downwind.

Mike Raper, North CBO says: "With the 2025 Mode Ultra's N-Weave45 Airframe and VMG DualSkin, racers get a real edge out on the water. The wing responds instantly to every move, giving you precise control even when you're pushing the limits at high speed. Plus, it holds speed and stability through tricky wind conditions, which means faster starts, higher upwind angles, and a consistent advantage all race long. We've seen Ernesto climbing the European Cup ranks at pace already - and clocking speeds of over 35knots when combined with the North HA Foils and Vector Race Board. We're holding true to our North Sails racing heritage here."

Pair with the Vector Wing Race Foilboard

A synergy of hydro and aerodynamics, this high-speed carbon wing race foilboard is engineered to reduce windage for faster flying and leaderboard-dominating performance. Its rounded hull and rails are engineered to shed chop and swell, so you can push harder at every angle without fear of catching an edge, and maintain speed throughout the course.

The Mode Ultra, Vector and Sonar Foil System /Speed HA Series by North are World Sailing approved and eligible for use in the 2025 IWSA Formula Wingfoil Racing Classes.
