SailGP announced it will launch its first-ever, long-form premium docuseries Uncharted next month in order to highlight how the global championship has flipped the narrative on traditional sailing through the lens of Jimmy Spithill, a generational athlete who takes viewers behind the scenes of the most exciting racing on water.

The docuseries features a rare sit-down interview with SailGP co-founder and Oracle CTO Larry Ellison, whose vision, together with SailGP co-founder and CEO Russell Coutts, has changed the entire trajectory of the sport. The series will roll out in three, 30-minute episodes, captivating both existing fans and those new to the sport. Beyond the high-stakes, high-octane nature of elite sport, Uncharted highlights the relentless pursuit of excellence required to build a team from scratch and strive for victory in one of the world's fastest-growing and most demanding global competitions.

SailGP Chief Content Officer Melissa Lawton said: "Launching Uncharted around the globe is a huge moment for SailGP that will break down the barriers to our sport and change fans' perceptions of sailing through the personal sacrifices and drama of high-speed, on-water racing. Uncharted offers a rare glimpse into the faces behind the racing, stripping back the very human stories behind SailGP's ascent."

Spithill - Red Bull Italy SailGP Team CEO and former U.S. SailGP Team driver - is one of the world's most decorated sailors, playing the role of the hero as he navigates the uncharted waters of team ownership, leadership and high-stakes competition to build a team from the ground up in just six months. Told through Spithill's lens, Uncharted showcases his emotional journey that transcends the racecourse, capturing the relentless drive, the toll on family life, and the universal challenges of chasing a dream all while redefining a sport in the process. Spithill serves as a metaphor for change and the subsequent growing pains that come with the sport's emergence.

RedBull Italy SailGP Team CEO Jimmy Spithill said: "Uncharted is more than just a behind-the-scenes look at SailGP — it's a raw, honest journey into what it really takes to build something from the ground up. I've spent my career chasing speed, precision and performance, but stepping into team ownership added a whole new layer of challenge and meaning. This series shows the highs, the lows and most importantly, the people behind the teams. I'm proud to be part of a sport that's not only evolving but pushing boundaries in ways we never imagined."

Uncharted will be available to stream around the world via a number of global broadcast partners, including: FOX Sports (Australia), Globo - SporTV (Brazil), TSN (Canada), Canal+ (France), Paramount+ (U.S.), and more in due course. For countries without a broadcaster, Uncharted will be available on SailGP's YouTube channel.

SailGP produced Uncharted in partnership with the Ten100 - an Emmy-Award winning production company with a proven track record of creating compelling and engaging content. Since 2007, Ten100 has consistently set the standard for premium unscripted and documentary programming.

The Rolex SailGP Championship is redefining the sport of sailing as an annual global championship, competing in iconic cities around the world. The championship features 12 national teams battling it out in identical 50-foot foiling catamarans, racing faster than wind speeds at over 60 miles per hour. With its close-to-shore stadium racing at the water's edge, SailGP puts fans at the heart of the action. SailGP returns next month with the sixth stop of the 2025 Season, the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on June 7 & 8.
