Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club has released the Notice of Race and opened entry for the 11th edition of the biennial Hong Kong to Vietnam Race.

The race starts on 28 October and 29 October 2025 and will take competitors on a 673nm epic downwind ride from Hong Kong to the Asian paradise of Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Hot off the blocks to sign up is international entry in the form of Phillip Turner's Reichel/ Pugh 66 Alive from Australia who is making a return to the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race. Alive took line honours in the 2017 edition with elapsed time of 50h 11m 56s.

Predominantly a downwind run in 25 to 30kts of breeze, tropical sunshine, 30-degree water temperature - the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race (the longest Category One offshore race in Asia) should be on every sailor's bucket list.

The Hong Kong to Vietnam Race is recognised as a qualifying race for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. It was first run in 1996 and then regularly since 2004. Both the monohull and multihull race records were broken in the 2019 edition of the race with Bryon Ehrhart's Lucky setting a new monohull race record of 41h 30m 20s and Meitatsu Fukumoto / Seng Huang Lee's SHK Scallywag Fuku setting a new multihull race record of 30h 09m 27s.
