Zhik launches Daybreaker jacket and salopettes for performance-focused crews

Lightweight sustainable warmth and clean layering for offshore and coastal crews in cold conditions.
Zhik, the innovative Australian water sport brand, introduces the
Daybreaker Midlayer Jacket and
Daybreaker Midlayer Salopette, a streamlined insulation range designed for sailors pushing through cold conditions. Perfectly suited to integrate with Zhik's OFS offshore and CST coastal waterproof shells, the new pieces deliver high thermal performance with minimal bulk, combining wind resistance with a fluorine-free, water-resistant finish and recycled insulation for reliable comfort in changeable conditions.
The Daybreaker range is purpose-built for marine layering, providing warmth, easy movement and quick transitions when layering. A two-layer construction pairs a wind-resistant face with a BIONIC-FINISH® ECO fluorine-free DWR to repel spray and light rain when on deck or wearing the jacket through daily life ashore. The internals are filled with industry leading REPREVE® recycled insulation. The insulation, created from recycled materials including post-consumer plastic bottles and pre-consumer waste, provides dependable environmentally friendly warmth with structured loft that rebounds from compression, to guarantee longevity.
To ensure an ergonomic fit and seamless integration with other layers, the shoulders, waist, under arm and ankle cuffs have a streamlined elasticated construction to prevent interference with waterproof outer layers and high ankle waterproof boots. Other features include a two-way full-length zip for fast donning, adjustment and internal access, while the reinforced knees and seat improve longevity in high-wear zones. The jackets include dual side-entry hand pockets with concealed zips, internal and external chest pockets for secure storage, and a mid-height collar to protect against wind chill and seamlessly integrate with outer layer jackets.
"Sailors need insulating layers that provide warmth but don't add unnecessary bulk. The
Daybreaker range was designed for exactly this, combining a streamlined fit with functional features that seamlessly integrated with their other gear," said Johnny Rodgers, Zhik Head of Marketing and Partnerships. "The Zhik design team have been able to create a technical product but also work closely with our suppliers to ensure that these items utilise environmentally friendly materials to reduce the environmental impact and align with our sustainability goals."
Zhik continues to work with high-performance yachting partners to test, develop and prove the performance of its yachting range. These partners, including the world renowned Paprec Arkéa Team, gain insights through multiple extended offshore campaigns, along with LawConnect and Comanche in their offshore racing campaigns, including the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Insights from these teams help inform fit, durability and function through a range of conditions and circumstances.
