The organisers of the 2025 ORC World Championship—Kalev Yacht Club, the Tallinn Olympic Sailing Center, and the Estonian Yachting Union—are proud to announce Garmin®as the Title Sponsor of this prestigious event, set to take place from August 8-16, 2025, in Pirita, Tallinn, Estonia. The championship will officially be known as the Garmin ORC World Championship 2025.

As a leading innovator in GPS technology and marine electronics, Garmin brings unparalleled expertise to the event, enhancing the racing experience for sailors and organisers alike. The 2025 World Championship also holds special significance as Tallinn celebrates 45 years since hosting the 1980 Olympic Sailing Regatta and its designation as the European Capital of Sport 2025.

Garmin Enhances the ORC World Championship Experience

As the Title Sponsor, Garmin will provide cutting-edge marine electronics, technology and mapping to support the championship. They will provide detailed course information for both the long and short offshore races, and provide the overall and Corinthian champions with Garmin quatix® 7 Pro Sailing and GPS smartwatches, the ultimate tool for sailors. Additionally, temporary race marks will be added to the Garmin Navionics® chart database during the event.

Garmin's sponsorship of the ORC Worlds 2025 in Tallinn follows its successful Gold Sponsorship of the 2024 ORC European Championship in Mariehamn, Åland, and its continued support of the ORC Double-Handed European Championship in Helsinki, Finland (July 5-12, 2025).

"It's an honor to continue and increase our involvement and support for the ORC," said Mattias Daldborg, Senior Marine Marketing & Communications Manager EMEA. "ORC represents the true and authentic spirit in sailing and to be part of this as a brand and with market leading sailing technologies is very exciting, is something we truly are looking forward to."

Estonia Welcomes the ORC Title Championship for the Third Time

Estonia has once again been entrusted with hosting an ORC title championship, following the success of the 2015 Volvo Estonia ORC European Championship in Pärnu and the 2021 Alexela ORC World Championship in Tallinn.

"Both previous ORC championships in Estonia were highly successful, and we are honored to host the ORC Worlds again in 2025," said Tõnu Tõniste, Commodore of Kalev Yacht Club. "We are grateful to Garmin for their support of this world-class event. Their expertise in marine technology and commitment to sailing will add tremendous value to the championship, ensuring smooth and efficient organization at all levels."

Early Entry Fee Deadline on April 1

With excitement building for the Garmin ORC World Championship 2025, teams are encouraged to take advantage of early entry fee discounts before the April 1st deadline.

The championship will feature a four-class division format, with CDL limits updated to match the 2025 ORC VPP. Entry fees will increase per class as follows:

Class 0: 16.400 = CDL > 13.550 (1,500€ 1,800)
Class A: 13.550 = CDL > 11.270 (1,200€ 1,500€)
Class B: 11.270 = CDL > 9.630 (1,100€ 1,400€)
Class C: 9.630 = CDL > 8.000 (1,000€ 1,300€)

Why Race in Tallinn?

The Garmin ORC World Championship 2025 will bring together top ORC teams from Northern Europe, the Baltics, and beyond, offering world-class racing in one of the best sailing venues in the region. The 2021 ORC Worlds in Tallinn was widely praised for its seamless organisation and top-level competition. The marina infrastructure has been significantly enhanced to offer state-of-the-art amenities for competitors.

Fair & Competitive Racing: ORC rules ensure fair class racing, with provisions for combined starts if minimum entry requirements are not met—while still awarding titles and prizes per class.

Event Schedule & Race Format

Measurement and registration for the Garmin ORC Worlds 2025 will start on Friday, August 8. The first, an overnight race of roughly 36 hours, will kick off the competition on Monday, August 11. The remainder of the regatta will include three days of windward-leeward racing and one day of short offshore, i.e. coastal point-to-point racing. Organisers will offer Warm-up Wednesday on August 6 as a chance for a training; the Notice of Race will be published shortly.

"We congratulate the Tallinn organisers on securing Garmin as a key sponsor," said Bruno Finzi, Chairman of ORC. "With Garmin's support and the organisers' meticulous planning, we anticipate an exceptional edition of the ORC Worlds."
