Musto 2023 HPX LEADERBOARD

Musto broadens partnership to include three further Clipper Ventures brands

by Clipper Round the World Race 25 Jan 12:00 GMT

Clipper Race crew have worn Musto in training and on their ocean crossings since 2019 and will continue to be kitted out in industry leading technical clothing for the upcoming 2025-26 and 2027-28 editions.

This broader partnership with Clipper Ventures will span the next four years and enable Musto to reach an even wider range of sailors, from Clipper Race crew setting out to cross the world's toughest oceans, to arctic explorers on a SKIRR Adventures expedition to the higher latitudes. Musto will also be providing its kit to those stepping on board for the first time as part of a corporate event or sailors taking part in the Rolex Fastnet Race through Clipper Events, as well as up to three thousand students each year gaining their sailing qualifications at Hamble School of Yachting.

Musto will continue to provide its state-of-the-art HPX Collection to Clipper Race crew, a range which has been engineered from the newest, most rugged, GORE-TEX Pro membrane, and built off decades of experience and feedback from the world's best sailors. In fact, it is the same range which professional offshore racers wear, including record-breaker Charlie Dalin who last week won the Vendée Globe 2024.

The kit was developed having been tested on the Clipper 2019-20 Race and provides the greatest barrier against the elements. With bespoke features for Race Crew, participants will be ready to sustain everything an eleven-month circumnavigation can throw at them, including up to a month of continuously wet conditions, freezing on deck temperatures and searing tropical heat.

Musto's BR2 range will be worn by SKIRR Adventures and Clipper Events participants with BR2 Performance fabric providing offshore protection in even the most intense weather systems.

For the sailors on board SKIRR Adventures, a 12-week, 4,000 nautical mile sailing expedition to the high latitudes, the warmest and most comfortable kit is required for this arctic adventure. Adventurers will traverse remote landscapes around Scotland, Greenland and Iceland under sail, experiencing the sights of majestic icebergs and incredible wildlife.

Clipper Events is an experiential sailing company which creates bespoke corporate events for businesses and also enables participation in offshore races. Musto kit will be worn on challenging events including RORC's Rolex Fastnet Race and IRC's Round the Island Race.

Musto's BR1 Channel foul weather gear will protect students at Hamble School of Yachting, so they can concentrate on their studies at one of the UK's leading sailing schools. From Competent Crew to Yachtmaster Ocean courses, clients will be kept warm and dry in the best kit out there.

This expansive partnership will continue to play an integral part in Musto's ongoing programme of product testing and development. Each of the businesses within Clipper Ventures will allow Musto to put its kit through its paces in a range of sailing environments. It will also allow the brand to reach and engage with a wider audience than ever before, helping sailors to embrace adventure wearing the best kit for the elements.

Laura Ayres, Managing Director at Clipper Ventures said: "Clipper Ventures is not only centred around offshore racing. We support those seeking adventure and encourage people to break out of their comfort zones and embrace the unknown. This is certainly a philosophy shared with Musto. With this renewed and expanded partnership, Musto will continue to provide its industry-leading kit for our crew racing around the world, while enabling our customers across our three other businesses to experience sailing in a range of settings. We are confident all our participants will be wearing the best sailing apparel out there.

"We're looking forward to seeing what the next two Clipper Race editions will bring in terms of testing and development of Musto kit. We can't wait to see the gear used by our full range of customers: from those exploring the remote corners of the Arctic, to those stepping on board a yacht for the very first time."

Nick Houchin, Marketing Director at Musto added: "As the world's leading technical offshore sailing brand, we're delighted to be committing to this renewed agreement with Clipper Ventures and extending our partnerships across the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, Clipper Events, Hamble School of Yachting, and SKIRR Adventures. This partnership enables us to test our iconic ocean sailing products in the harshest environments on the planet whilst also supporting Clipper Ventures to kit out their staff and crew with the ultimate in protection, so they can focus on the job in hand."
