It’s a picture-perfect day for the final race of Bay of Islands Sailing Week, much like the stunning images on Northland Inc.’s website, which highlight the region as a top-tier destination for visitors.

Northland Inc. has been a major sponsor of the iconic regatta for many years, and as sailors dock out for their final races we’re taking a minute to thank this organisation whose dedication to promoting the Bay of Islands as a premiere destination aligns perfectly with the event’s vision.

Every January, as hundreds of visitors flock to the region, Northland Inc.'s contribution not only supports the sailing community but also benefits local businesses, the economy, and the tourism sector.

“We’re grateful to have Northland Inc. on board as a sponsor. Their recognition of the event's impact on the region is invaluable,” says regatta chairman Ian Clouston. “Without the support of sponsors like Northland Inc., we wouldn’t be able to deliver the high-quality event that has become so well-regarded. Their partnership has been integral to the event’s success.”

About Northland Inc. Northland Inc. is the Economic Development Agency for Te Tai Tokerau Northland, working to boost the region's economy and well-being. As a council-controlled organisation, they are actively involved in supporting tourism, business growth, and projects that create positive, sustainable change across the area. Their focus is on fostering an economy that works for everyone, while also protecting the environment.

Through their partnership with Bay of Islands Sailing Week, they recognise the event is more than just a sailing competition. It’s a way of energising the region, creating opportunities for local businesses, and supporting a future where growth can happen sustainably.

Northland Inc. collaborates with local communities, iwi, hapu, businesses, and investors to identify new opportunities and ensure that growth benefits all sectors of the community. Their ultimate goal is to build a strong, fair, and resilient economy in Te Tai Tokerau Northland, one that honours both people and the land.

As the final races of the regatta are underway, organisers are hopeful that the light and shifting winds will allow them to complete the final races before the prizegiving ceremony later this afternoon.
