Phantom Sailing 2025 calendar - announcing title sponsors GOAT Marine

Phantom Sailing in 2025 is already looking like it's going to be a great year, building on last years successes. The full events calendar is now complete which comprises of our local regional events series, training days, our first Welsh Area Championships, a Super Series and our Inland and Nationals Championships.

It's certainly a year to look forward to, continuing to strengthen our goal of making Phantom Sailing accessible for everyone who loves sailing an exciting, manageable and responsive boat.

We are passionate about Phantom Sailing and in summary here's what we have on offer in 2025

GOAT Marine Phantom National Championships

The class is also very grateful to be supported and sponsored by the classes long term partners who have worked closely with the Phantom Class Association over the years - Ovington Boats, Allen Bros, HD Sails, P&B, North Sails, Optimum Time, JJ Boats and Allspars.

The premier event of the season, our Nationals Championships will be hosted by Hooe Point Sailing Club in association with the Mount Batten Centre in Plymouth between the 19th-21st September 2025. It's been a while since the Phantoms held its Nationals in the southwest, but with a growing fleet in the region the class is very excited about returning.

As one of the best locations to sail in the UK, we think its going to be a big one !

Inland Championships

The Inland Championships this year is being hosted by Burton Sailing Club, centrally located to each of our five regions, it will showcase our inland sailing talent. The strength in depth of the fleet is clearly evident, given we've seen a different Champion each year over the past three years !

It's a Championship not to be missed which has seen travellers from as far a field as Cornwall, Wales and Scotland in recent years.

Super Series

We also have another Super Series programme in 2025 comprising of a seven events, which includes an venue in each region together with the Inland and National Championships. Each event will be a popular two day event (the Nationals being a three day event) with the aim of extend inter-regional racing offering the opportunity for sailors to compete against other regional hot shots, mixing up the pecking order !

Leading from the front, last years Super Series was won by our very own Class Association Chairman - Rob Cook from Northampton S.C.

Regional Traveller Series

Our Regional Reps have been working hard behind the scenes over the past few months to pull together a great and varied set of mini series across our five regions.

South West - Jon Rickard has gone with some great sea destinations included some as part of well know classic regattas.

South East - Chris Shelton combining sea and inland venues to mix up the skill set required to win the series with some very popular locations.

East - Bill Taylor and Warren Martin have pulled together the largest regional series from the birth home of the Phantom, with seven great events to choose from.

Midlands - Jim Hopton has the choice of many great inland venues and has selected five for 2025, which include some well known and popular venues, a combined event with the North as well as our Inland Championships at Burton S.C.

North - Dave Smith is going with familiar venues from last year to attract sailors from the biggest region and tempt potential competition from the midlands.

To reward our regional reps for all their hard work in pulling these series together, all you need to do is... hitch up that boat, participate and enjoy !

Training Days

By popular demand and true to our reputation as being one of the friendliest of classes, known for the sharing of technical expertise, boat handling tips and tuning guides. The Class have put together another set of one day training sessions, all preceding and linked to two day opens across all our regions.

We've had great feedback from last years sessions, so if you are a novice or experienced sailor wanting to expand your sailing skills and boat speed, book yourselves into one or more of the dates.

The coaching is provided by many of our talented sailors and names from the front of the fleet who are approachable and keen to share their knowledge and know how.

The sessions are free to Phantom Class Association members so there's no excuses... every day's a school day !

Phantom Eastern Series at Great Yarmouth
Class dominates at annual Gorleston Beach Regatta Gorleston Sailing Club hosted its annual Beach Regatta over the weekend of June 28th and 29th, welcoming a mix of visiting classes including the Phantom fleet, several Vareos, and a variety of club boats. Posted on 9 Jul
Phantoms at Hollingworth Lake
Third event in the Northern Series sailed alongside the Solos Three visitors joined two boats from the home club for the Northern Series Phantom Open at Hollingworth Lake SC on Sunday 6th July. Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Beach Regatta
A good test for competitors over a range of sailing conditions This year's GYGSC Beach Regatta was held over the weekend of the 28th and 29th June. It was a weekend of contrasting weather, very warm and windy on Saturday, cooler and a calmer on Sunday (but still warm). Posted on 2 Jul
