by Williams Jet Tenders 30 Nov 2024 08:46 GMT

Williams Jet Tenders proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of its apprentice engineer, Anisha Roberts, who has been awarded the BAE Systems Advanced Apprentice of the Year Award at the 21st Annual National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards.

This prestigious event, hosted by the UK Government Department for Education, took place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on 27 November, bringing together the nation's top apprenticeship talent and showcasing the best in skills and training.

Anisha's victory follows her earlier triumph as the South East Regional Winner, which secured her a place at the national stage. The award recognises her exceptional performance as an apprentice engineer, her dedication to advancing inclusivity in STEM, and her commitment to sustainable practices at Williams Jet Tenders. Anisha's efforts include advocating for special educational needs, championing recycling, and promoting the use of reusable materials within the company.

Anisha is currently pursuing an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, balancing her career aspirations with her responsibilities as a mother of two. Returning to education after a decade, she exemplifies the transformative power of apprenticeships in providing life-changing opportunities for people at all stages of their lives.

"I am incredibly honoured to receive this award," said Anisha Roberts. "My apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to pursue my passion, develop my skills, and contribute to meaningful projects. I hope my journey inspires others to explore the incredible potential of apprenticeships and I want to take the time to thank the team at Williams for the incredible opportunities and support they have given me."

Anisha's win adds to her growing list of accolades, including the Best of British Engineering Award at the 2023 Enginuity Awards and the British Marine Apprentice of the Year Award 2024. Her achievements underscore the critical role that high-quality apprenticeships play in nurturing skilled individuals who drive innovation and growth in local communities and industries.

Commenting on Anisha's win, John Hornsby, Founder and Technical Director of Williams Jet Tenders, said: "Anisha's passion and determination embody the very best of what apprenticeships can achieve. Her contributions have been invaluable, and we are immensely proud of her well-deserved recognition."

This year's National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards celebrated the immense value of high-quality apprenticeships in shaping careers and driving business success. As highlighted during the ceremony, apprenticeships equip individuals with the skills and experience to thrive in their chosen fields while enabling employers to build the talented workforce essential to future growth.

The UK Government continues to champion apprenticeships as engines of opportunity, offering individuals from diverse backgrounds a pathway to fulfilling careers while ensuring businesses have access to skilled talent that powers productivity and growth.
