Conrad Shipyard & German Yacht Couture reveal new details of Conrad C-140 Project

by Conrad Shipyard 4 Jul 2024 16:22 BST

Conrad Shipyard proudly announced, during the Monaco Yacht show in 2022, a ground-breaking collaboration together with renown, award-winning yacht designer and naval architect Frank Neubelt that has led to the creation of the highly anticipated Conrad C-140 project, - a performance world cruiser flybridge sailing yacht, showcasing the yard's fusion of innovation, craftsmanship, and unparalleled technical design expertise.

Since its announcement, the originally introduced project concept of 130 feet in length created by Frank Neubelt has been significantly expanded to 140 feet, following insight from the owner. The meticulous preparation of documentation has paved the way for the project to transition into the construction phase at Conrad Shipyard in Gdansk - Poland, setting the stage for a remarkable journey ahead.

The C-140, spanning 42 meters, epitomizes excellence in exterior, interior, and naval architecture, meticulously crafted by Frank Neubelt Yacht Designs, FNYD, originally promoted by his German Yacht Couture project agency, GYC.

The technical engineering process behind the project is a collaborative effort between the Conrad technical in-house team and naval-engineering studio "Delta Marine", ensuring the seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies and design elements.

"The C-140 is another milestone for us. We are honored to have the opportunity to cooperate once again with Frank, who introduced a very experienced "yacht-gent" to Conrad Shipyard to realize his bespoke super yacht. After the success of a series of award-winning motor yachts like the C-144s line and the C-133 custom model, we are now returning to a very demanding and unique project of a sailing superyacht, confirming our over 10 years as the most renown high-quality builders in the North of Europe and the international superyacht industry," says Mikolaj Krol, CEO at Conrad Shipyard.

Distinguished as the first flybridge performance sailing yacht of its size, the C-140 boasts a unique indoor-outdoor salon concept integrated into an Alu/Alustar-hull and a light carbon-superstructure.

The elegantly styling of the flybridge-decks-house features full-screen salon windows, offering a luxurious owner's stateroom with two ensuite bathrooms on the lower deck with a private exit to the aft beach club deck, plus three guest cabins. The yacht features particularly spacious service and crew areas for 6-7, including a pantry, galley, and crew mess.

The performance bowsprit powered and wind tunnel VPP/ LPP tested sail-plan set at a 4-swept-back spreader "Southern Spars" Carbon mast comes with a carbon furl-in boom carrying a square-top main sail embodies sophistication. It is up-wind powered by "North Sails" via "Reckmann"- a furled self-tacking staysail and a 110% Blade-Jib plus at half-wind and reaches sailing performed via a defined Code-0/Gennaker configuration.

As the yacht is designed for sportive world cruising, the hull-body's contemporary modern wide-sled performance lines were intensively computer optimized by FNYD and Conrad in cooperation with the "North Tech-Group" and hydrodynamic specialist "Capehorn" in England.

In response to the owners' desires for a bespoke safe maneuvering and performance under engine, the yacht incorporates hybrid power with a 360-degree low resistance-feasible four-blade propulsion system and bow truster by "Hundested" propellers. Emphasizing versatility and luxury, the yacht offers a transatlantic range and long-trip storage.

The C-140, at its great length, features space normally found in larger yachts - a five-meter owners-tender stored in a special covered foredeck tender bay, plus a crew tender at the hatch, covered lazarette under the spacious beach club aft deck, followed by a spacious fold-out "lido-stair" bathing platform.

The construction of the C-140 project has commenced at Conrad Shipyard with expected completion in the 2026 season at our facilities in Gdansk, Poland. This marks a significant milestone, with Conrad Shipyard becoming an important player in the realm of high-end sailing yacht builders.

The C-140 epitomizes the future of luxury sailing, catering to a discerning audience of sailing enthusiasts and newcomers seeking unparalleled sophistication and performance. Designed with utmost precision and attention to detail, the yacht embodies the perfect synergy of engineering excellence and innovative design, setting a new standard in the realm of semi-custom sail yachts.

The C-140 model is the first of serial semi-custom production available to clients seeking a highly advanced Flybridge sailing yacht ranging from 42 to 45 meters in length with individually bespoke interiors to be offered, in traditional combustion or hybrid propulsion versions. The next hull will be available late season 2028 by orders this year.
