There were champagne sailing conditions for over 200 sailors at WPNSA over the weekend for the S & SW Regional Junior Championships. Pulled together at short notice by the Class Associations with WPNSA as the Organising Authority, the event had a Championship Fleet with RS Tera (Sport & Pro), Topper (4.2 & 5.3), RS Feva, Optimist and ILCA fleets, as well as a Coached Regatta with RS Tera, Topper and Optimist Fleets. The Andrew Simpson Centre ran an Onboard Fleet alongside.

There were 71 RS Teras competing, which was the biggest fleet overall, with sailors travelling from all corners of the regions. As ever for the Tera Class, it was fun, inclusive and friendly.

Championship Fleet PRO Paul Kimmens ran an excellent set of four races on Saturday and three on Sunday, with over 140 boats on the same racecourse! There were seven fleets on five different starts - and it was as smooth as clockwork.

71 RS Teras overall must be a record! In the Championship fleet there were 44 RS Tera Sport and nine RS Tera Pro, and some very close racing throughout the fleet. In the Coached Regatta Fleet there were eighteen RS Teras, and for many it was their first regatta.

Much fun was had by all, with excellent coaching and support from the coaching team lead by Duncan West, and splendid set of nine races run by RO Martyn Emberson

Saturday was a fantastic day's sailing, with the wind building steadily through the day and some great racing for all fleets. WPNSA laid on a BBQ on Saturday evening, the sun shone and much fun was had by all.

Sunday dawned bright but windless, and the fleets were held ashore for a while, before launching around noon. There were lighter breezes and some very good and close racing.

Huge thanks to WPNSA for such a slick event, to the Class Associations who pulled this together with only a few weeks' notice, and to all of the helpers on and off the water. It was a great event and we hope it will remain in the calendar for many years to come.

Huge thanks to the kind prize sponsors: Rooster Sailing, RS Sailing, CoastWaterSports, CFbyLandL, Bee Sails and all the other supporters.
