Sail Canada is pleased to highlight a new platform, SailTies, the free sailing log application built for smartphones and designed for the way people go sailing today.

Since 2021, thousands of Canadian sailors already use SailTies to easily record and share their sailing experiences and draw inspiration from the online community of SailTies users.

SailTies is a digital platform that compliments a sailor's hardcopy logbook, preventing the loss of records and certifications by misplacing paperwork or damaging your logbook with water. The app replaces the need to fill out a logbook as its built-in capabilities can track distances and hours on the water, tie to weather information in the paid version, and add crew and positions to their log. You can also import tracks from other navigation platforms or devices from your past sailings.

Challenge your friends and family to gain experience and log time on the water with SailTies. Connect your socials so that everyone onboard can add their photos, videos and logs to the track to build the full picture of the trip. These memories can be shared with friends, family and any existing sailing clubs and communities.

"We are excited to partner with Sail Canada so that more Canadian boaters can enjoy a beautiful, digital record of their sailing," said Chris Jacobs, co-founder of SailTies. "Thousands of members have already been using the app, adding their hard-earned certificates to their digital wallet and logging millions of miles of traveling, from coast to coast to coast, on oceans, lakes and rivers. As a sailor myself, it's fantastic that Sail Canada is leading the way in supporting technology to modernize boating and making sure that sailors don't lose those precious memories and miles."

"I'm excited to see more ways to share your sailing experience with SailTies" says Nick Allinson, programs Coordinator at Sail Canada. "SailTies has so many functionalities that make logging a breeze and really builds upon your Sail Canada logbook and certifications. I've installed the app myself and am looking forward to sharing my summer days on the water with friends and family via social media."

SailTies is free to use, with an optional SailTies Plus subscription for sailors who wish to unlock even more from their voyages.

SailTies is available for iOS and Android systems. You can download SailTies at sailties.net.
