During the Our Ocean 2024 Conference, D-Marin cemented its commitment to the protection of the marine environment through an alignment with the Greek Government who are investing €700 million to protect its maritime space.

Since 2014, the Our Ocean Conference has mobilised more than 2,160 commitments worth approximately USD 130 billion. The Our Ocean 2024 event saw organisations gather to support national and international sustainability actions with a clear timeframe, along with announcements on the successful implementation of previous Our Ocean commitments.

D-Marin partnered with Our Ocean 2024 Conference and supported the event by funding the calculation of the carbon footprint, which provided a key figure used to offset the emissions from the event. The premium marina brand is renowned for its ESG programme and for creating sustainable marinas for present and future generations. They have invested significantly in green technology and clean energy, environmental protection, alongside other sustainability initiatives.

The event, which was opened by Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and former American politician, Secretary John Kerry, saw Greece commit to more than €700 million to marine conservation and protection in two stages by 2026 and 2030. D-Marin is a key competent of the Greek blue economy which is an area of focus for Greece's 21 marine sustainability actions outlined during the conference.

D-Marin is ranked in the top quarter of leisure companies worldwide by EcoVadis for its sustainability programme and affirmed this commitment with its involvement in the Our Ocean 2024 conference and alignment with the aims and actions of the event.

Areti Priovolou, Health, Safety and Environmental Officer of D-Marin, said: "As the conference highlighted, we believe that protecting the ocean is key to maintaining a healthy planet. That's why we're taking action, ensuring sustainable marinas will safeguard the sea for generations to come. We are reaffirming our commitment to reducing emissions by 42% by 2030, totally aligned with the Scienced Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in which we actively participate. We are not doing this alone and are committed to collaborative efforts from across the globe which is needed to make a significant improvement. We are proud to be involved in this conference and support the calculation of the carbon footprint for both the Youth Leadership Summit and the Our Ocean Conference, enabling them to offset their emissions."

Dr. Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou, the Greek Prime Minister's Special Envoy for the Ocean, said: "We are very grateful to D-Marin for its support in the carbon measurement project for the 9th Our Ocean Conference, with the aim of offsetting our carbon emissions to make the Conference environmentally sustainable with a low-carbon footprint."
