Overy Staithe Sailing Club Easter Egg Race 2

OSSC Easter Egg Race 2 © Jennie Clark

A mostly sunny morning with a deceptively gentle breeze in the lee of the boathouse that turned out to be a force 4 gusting 5 southerly by the time the gybe mark at B appeared.

Twelve boats started with Rodney Tidd and Simon (Spike) Turner over the line at the start. Spike returned. So did Rodney after he had completed the first beat. Pete Turner returned even though he wasn't over the line.

Bernard Clark was a capsizing casualty at Worple but continued. There was a nasty collision between the Mirror and the Twinkle. Alex Scoles sailed off into the distance looking totally in control, chased by Spike and Pete.

Pete rolled his OK in down the run from Worple to Houseboats on the second lap to leave Spike in second. Day 3 of the series will be sailed at 08.30 on Saturday, with very light winds forecast!
