Lightweight, extremely stable, emission-free: these are the key features of the new Ribcat tenders. With the catamaran RIB, Yachtwerft Hamburg offers an innovative tender for owners of large motor and sailing yachts.

Tenders are often a problem when equipping large yachts. On sailing yachts, the size and weight of tenders are often detrimental to performance; motor yacht owners prefer stable tenders that lie well in the water and are also compact enough to fit in the yacht's garage.

Johannes Malzahn, Managing Director of Yachtwerft Hamburg and its new Ribcat brand, says: "Finding the right tender for a large motor or sailing yacht is a challenge for many owners or their captains. That's why we decided to make life a little easier for them and develop our Ribcat tenders."

Ribcat tenders are made of carbon composite, are tailored to the needs of owners of large yachts and weigh just 170 kilograms at a length of 3.65 meters and 230 kilograms at a length of 4.30 meters. A built-in compressor can automatically inflate or deflate the hoses when craning - thus minimizing the stowage dimensions. Malzahn: "An incredibly innovative solution. It allows us to offer a tender with maximum capacity for six people."

Designed as a catamaran, the Ribcats manufactured at Yachtwerft Hamburg offer a veritable interior and are very efficient under way thanks to their hydrodynamics. They are available with both electric drives and conventional outboards at the stern. Above all, however, Ribcats are stable in the water; they do not tip on their side when boarding and convey a very good feeling of safety. Malzahn: "This criterion is almost the most important for owners of large yachts. They and their guests should be able to get on and off comfortably without anyone feeling uncomfortable or unsafe."

The most important features at a glance:

  • Low weight: The Ribcat tender is one of the lightest tenders in its class. The carbon version weighs just 170 kilograms (Ribcat 3.6) or 230 kilograms (Ribcat 4.3).
  • Stable position: Designed as a catamaran, Ribcats are very stable in the water. At the same time, they can reach high speeds and consume little energy.
  • Good dimensions: Ribcat tenders are optimized for dinghy garages. They have a low height and compact dimensions thanks to their catamaran design.
  • Versatile layout: By placing the steering position at the front, the stern can be designed and used very flexibly.
  • Smart Tube: The Ribcats' air tube can be deflated or inflated in just 45 seconds, resulting in a better pack size. The necessary electric pumps are integrated.
  • Without emissions: Ribcats are equipped with an all-electric drive to avoid any emissions.
  • Customized equipment: Colours, fabrics and surfaces of the Ribcats can be designed and selected entirely according to the customer's wishes.
  • High quality: Ribcats are built in Hamburg/Germany, ensuring a high level of vertical integration.
