With the new Freestyle Pro Tour season kickstarted in Cape Town, the rest of the year is now in the starting blocks ahead.

The 2024 tour has plenty of excitement in store and in this update you can read all about the upcoming events as well as the official cancelation of the FPT Bonaire and the FPT Austria.

One of the exciting new additions is the Youth & Junior division in Vieste. The FPT is working tirelessly towards improving the calendar with more potential events for this year still being discussed behind the scenes. Check out the updated calendar and read all the details below.

FPT Bonaire

The Freestyle Pro Tour regrettably announces the cancelation of the 2024 FPT Bonaire. After a fantastic Proving Grounds Series event there in 2023, hopes were high for a great continuation this year. Unfortunately, local organisers have shifted focus and priority away from freestyle windsurfing, which means that with very little time left to the event, the FPT is forced to call this years edition off. Still, hopes are high for the FPT return to one of the mecca's of freestyle in 2025. A special thank you goes out to all the people who put in tremendous efforts to keep the event hopes alive despite the setbacks.

FPT Surf Opening Austria

With more and more setbacks for the local organisers in Neusiedl am See, the 2024 FPT Surf Opening in Austria had to be cancelled for this year. With plenty of efforts made to salvage this classic and legendary competition, including the consideration to turn it into a Tow-In only event, ends could not be met and this difficult decision had to be taken. The FPT is hopeful for a strong comeback there next year. While the Surf Opening is not going ahead, another event is being discussed for the same dates. Stay tuned for further updates.

FPT Vieste

The 2024 FPT Vieste is fully confirmed and will be the first ever Freestyle Pro Tour event to have all 3 disciplines in ranked competition. Not only that, but this event will also run an official Youth & Juniors division. Vieste has quickly risen to be a cornerstone of the tour and the FPT is extremely excited to be going back to Italy towards the end of May. The event will have live coverage so make sure to mark your calendars! Registration for this tour stop will soon open, including all details about accommodation and travel arrangements.

FPT Geneva

The Foilstyle and Tow-in event in Geneva is green-lit once again, meaning plenty of insane action to come in front of the Geneva skyline. With a change of dates to move the event earlier in the year, hopes are high for sufficient winds to finally run the Foilstyle discipline in September. The FPT can't wait to enjoy the hospitality of the Tropical Corner once again. Registration and logistical details for this event will follow soon.

FPT Naxos

Home to the 2023 European Champion and back on the calendar after many years, the 2024 FPT Naxos is also fully confirmed! Anyone else can't wait to see Lennart Neubauer (Starboard/Severne/Maui Ultra Fins) defend his title at the final stop of the season? Being the official EFPT Finals and taking place at such a legendary spot, the event is already poised to be one for the books. All attending riders are also guaranteed accommodation for the duration of the event with an additional week after to stay and explore the beautiful island of Naxos, and of course it's epic windsurfing conditions. Registration and logistical details about the event will follow soon.

Other events

The FPT Brouwersdam and the FPT Finals remain without updates for now. Stay tuned for more news on those events as the season progresses.

Proving Grounds Series

The FPT Vesoul Tow-In event is still in development, with more information coming your way soon. Furthermore, the German Freestyle Battles (GFB) and Danish Open are both gearing up for an exciting national season as well. If you are interested in competing and gaining some experience in those events, feel free to reach out to us and the FPT will gladly assist you!

What an exciting season ahead! If you have questions about the calendar do not hesitate to contact us.
