Phantom Open at Waveney & Oulton Broad Yacht Club

The weekend of the 28th & 29th October marked the end of the Phantom East Coast Series with winner depending on the result of this final event. Eleven boats competed with 50% of the fleet opting to stay at the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk YC. Super accommodation handy for the flesh pots of Lowestoft.

Saturday dawned with a light to moderate SW giving us a pretty good course visiting all the corners of the broad, 5 of the seven races using the same course, long beat, reach, short beat and run back to the leeward mark.

All the races were a tussle between Ben Falet and Richard Nurse with Matt House a mostly consistent 3rd. These three were pretty dominant usually managing to sneak away from the rest of us playing snakes and ladders across the broad.

Sunday dawned with slightly more wind but it didn't make any difference the results at the front were the same.

The overall result, with Ben winning, meant the Richard did not win the Eastern series, the winner being Bill Taylor, unable to attend as London Transport needed him.
