The Lega Navale del Sulcis, by delegation of the Italian Sailing Federation and in collaboration with Canottieri Ichnusa Cagliari and the RS Aero Class, will be organising the 2nd European Youth Team race Championship from 26 to 29 October

After the huge success of last year's inaugural event, the Lega Navale del Sulcis, together with the Italian and International RS Aero Class, has re-proposed the same team racing formula for 2023: from 26 to 29 October, in fact, the Second European RS Aero Youth Team Race Championships for young sailors under 22 will be held at the Canottieri Ichnusa Cagliari.

Up to 10 teams representing eight nations will take part in four days of international competition with a high social and cultural value, enjoying the pleasant temperatures at the end of October, all in the splendid setting of the city of Cagliari, an increasingly popular destination for sailing disciplines and regattas. A movement created thanks also to the great technical and sporting work of the 3rd FIV Sardinia Zone, chaired by lawyer Corrado Farra, which seems to have no rest throughout the 12 months of the year.

Thanks to the hospitality of Canottieri Ichnusa, it will be possible to race in Cagliari's tourist harbour, a fantastic place for team regattas, as it is sheltered and very convenient for spectators to follow the '2 versus 2' challenges, in which for each match two boats from one team race against two other boats from another team. The still very pleasant climate and the easily reachable location, thanks to the proximity of Cagliari's international airport, are a further reason to reach the Sardinian capital from all over Europe and take part in this event, which will be held with the RS Aero singlehanded boat, chosen with the smallest sail of 5 square metres (RS Aero 5) precisely to guarantee everyone an easy mastery of the boat, which in team regattas must be managed with special sailing skills and tactics, at low speed and according to a specific "Team Race" regulation.

Each nation will be represented by one male and one female, both under 22, who after qualifying in the first days, will eventually access the final scheduled for Sunday 29 October. The nations represented will be Italy, Great Britain, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany and Portugal, with the possibility of late entries from Sweden and the Netherlands.
