Austrian sailor Michael Guggenberger, also known as "Captain Gugg", is only a few miles away from the third step of a historic podium: the Golden Globe Race.

He is expected in Les Sables d'Olonne today, Thursday, May 11, between 8pm and 10pm - the ETA will be specified Thursday afternoon.

This relentless dreamer has not lost out. Like Kirsten Neuschäfer and Abhilash Tomy, the Austrian has completed this very difficult round-the-world sailing race, single-handed, non-stop and without technology, thanks to the winds and a simple sextant.

While there were 16 of them on the starting line, only three managed to brave all the storms and dangers of a merciless GGR.
