Get into a 505

by UK 5O5 Class Association 9 May 2023 09:10 BST

The 5O5 continues to be the boat top sailors aspire to when it comes to the challenge of symmetrical dinghy racing. Many of the podium positions internationally are occupied by UK competitors, as the boat continues to draw in our top talent.

Have you tried one? The UK 5O5 Class Association has a boat which is available, on application, to teams wanting to try out and experience the sailing with a view to joining the class, details below.

This year the leading UK dinghy manufacturer Ovington Boats reports that their production run for new 5O5's will be the biggest for over a decade.

The Class is also searching for information as to where 5O5's are lying. Do you have one at your club, either that sails regularly or just in the dinghy park. If you have any information you can pass on, please do so to

This year the UK National Championships will be at Tynemouth Sailing club between 1st and 4th June. The Europeans will be at Quiberon on 4th to 8th July with the World Championships in San Fransico 23rd September to 1st October.
