Some of the world's best dinghy sailors will be coming to Hayling Island Sailing Club for the 2026 505 World Championships, taking place from Thursday 2nd to Saturday 11th July 2026.

The International 505 offers high performance dinghy racing at is best, combining speed, skill, and teamwork. With a rich history and a fiercely competitive international fleet, the 505 World Championships is one of the toughest and most prestigious regattas to win outside of the Olympic classes.

Hayling Island Sailing Club is one of the UK's best sailing venues. It is one of only four RYA Coastal Centres of Excellence and has been running regattas at all levels for well over a hundred years. The club is situated on a private peninsula of golden sand at the entrance to Chichester Harbour, enjoying clean winds and solid sea breezes that give ideal dinghy racing conditions in Hayling Bay.

"We are delighted that the International 505 Class has chosen Hayling Island to host their 2026 World Championships" said Graham Williamson, Club Commodore. "It is twenty years since the 505 Worlds were last held here. Since then we have held many successful national and European events for the class and look forward to welcoming the best of the world's 505 sailors to our club for high quality racing at a first class venue."

Competitors can expect a week of intense racing with great socials that brings together sailors from around the world for an unforgettable championship.

If you would like to try sailing a 505 then please contact the UK Class Association, 505news.co.uk and we will hook you up for a demo sail.
