According to the forecasts provided by the association's research department, the 2022 turnover for the Italian yachting industry could reach and exceed the 7 billion euro threshold.

The Italian Marine Industry Association Confindustria Nautica, following the presentation at the Milan Stock Exchange of the Deloitte study entitled "The state of the art of the global yachting market" and focused on the production of yachting units, has now published an analysis of the entire boating industry's trends in the fifth edition of "La Nautica in Cifre Monitor - Trend di mercato 2022/2023" ("Yachting Figures Monitor - Market trends in 2022/2023").

Monitor, a statistical report produced by the Italian Marine Industry Association's Research Department in partnership with the Edison Foundation, provides an updated analysis of the official market trends as of the middle of the year, with indications on the overall state of the Italian yachting industry. Forecasts for the entire sector - which includes shipbuilding, components and equipment, and engines - indicate a 2022 turnover estimate that could reach and surpass the 7 billion euro mark, a value yet to be achieved, corresponding to a growth of between 15 and 20% compared to the previous year.

The scenario analyses carried out by the Edison Foundation document how the Italian economy has emerged quickly and with steady progress from the economic crisis generated by the pandemic. Italian manufacturing, in particular, has been able to rely on its trump card: its diversification of production, something unmatched worldwide. In fact, with a production structure consisting of multiple niches of excellence, based on significantly dynamic medium to medium-large enterprises, Italy - and in particular the mechanical engineering and transport equipment sectors - has been less affected by global supply disruptions. Criticalities that did not in fact prevent the Italian marine industry from archiving 2022 as a record year, exceeding 3 billion euros in exports.

Italy further strengthened its global leadership in the production of Superyachts, confirming the dominance of its shipbuilding industry at the top of the world ranking with 593 units, touching the all-time maximum of orders in the Global Order Book, for a corresponding overall length of 22,056 metres. As in recent years, Italy's share is around half of world's orders (49.3%), with an increase of 70 units compared to 2022. At a considerable distance in the ranking by number of orders are the United Kingdom, Taiwan and Turkey, with 126, 108 and 102 orders respectively.

The new edition of Monitor also contains a chapter dedicated to trends across the sector with an outlook on the world yachting market extracted from the study compiled by Deloitte and from the international market analyses collected by ICOMIA, while also updating the data on the registered nautical fleet for the year 2021, as disclosed by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport in the latest edition of "Il Diporto Nautico in Italia - Anno 2021" ("Yachting in Italy - Year 2021").

The definitive official figures will be available as usual in the new edition of La Nautica in Cifre LOG (the Yachting Figures LOG), which will be presented on 21st September, during the opening day of the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show, taking place from 21st to 26th September.

The fifth edition of Monitor is available for download at lanauticaincifre.it
