Viking 48 - One and the same

by Viking Yachts 3 Mar 2023 19:47 GMT
Hull No. 42 will be delivered to an owner in El Salvador © Viking Yachts

When you join the Viking family, you receive the same high level of engineering, construction, quality, luxury and customer support no matter the size or type of model you choose.

Take the Viking 48 Convertible, for example, a three-stateroom fish-and-cruise dynamo that can win on the tournament trail and is sized just right for the owner/operator. The 48 has proven to be popular around the world. Above: Hull No. 42 will be delivered to an owner in El Salvador, through our authorized dealer, Maspor Marine.

Like all Vikings, the 48's salon is open and inviting. This boat features a walnut interior with a gloss finish, premium carpeting, a standard 40-inch HDTV above the dinette and a galley loaded with top-shelf appliances such as Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer units and a four-burner Miele electric cooktop.

While hull No. 42 is just about ready for delivery, there are half a dozen other 48s under construction at our New Gretna, New Jersey, boatbuilding facility. The Viking shown above is hull No. 45, which is in the mechanical stage of the build process on Line 4.

More specifically, this boat is being prepared for its engines, which includes the installation of its linear exhaust system. Mechanic Brailler Silva (blue shirt) utilizes an electric overhead hoist to transport the composite component (from Marine Exhaust Systems), as Leadman Jhovanny Ramos guides it into position.

All Viking models are equipped with the best propulsion and machinery in the industry, such as MAN engines and Seakeeper gyro stabilizers. Above: The twin 1200MHP MAN engines and Seakeeper 9 that will be installed in hull No. 45.

The build of every Viking begins in Viglass, our Fiberglass Department, with the resin-infused construction of the hull followed by the installation of its stringers and bulkheads. Above: A Viglass crew completes the aft main engineroom bulkhead installation; the team will then lower the forward bulkhead-and-stringer structure, which has been brought into the boat with overhead hoists. This boat is actually a model within our 48 Open Series, which utilizes the same hull as the convertible with a completely different topside superstructure that includes a command deck and unique model-specific accommodation plan. (The boat shown above will be a Sport Tower model, available through the Viking dealer Oyster Harbors Marine.)

The Open Series includes the 48 Open, 48 Sport Coupe and 48 Sport Tower. For availability information about any of our Viking 48s, please contact your authorized Viking dealer.
