Overy Staithe SC Prize Giving Dinner

Over seventy members of Overy Staithe SC came together on Saturday 7 January to celebrate the 2022 season and welcome in the 2023 season. The club members were joined by guests including Maxine Owles, Manager of the Burnham Overy Boathouse, John Thompson who is Overy Staithe's Harbour Warden and Chris Hardy from the RNLI.

Commodore Ben Goakes and Sailing Secretary Andy Turner presented the prizes for the 2022 season and the club then joined together to enjoy a magnificent buffet supper. Following the supper the club had a presentation from Chris Hardy, who is the Operations Manager at RNLI Wells - the nearest RNLI station to the club's sailing water. Chris showcased the development of the new lifeboat station at Wells and the Shannon lifeboat named after the Duke of Edinburgh which is now stationed there.

The club's sailing season begins on Friday 7 April with a busy weekend of racing for the Easter Trophy and the Shipwrecked Mariner's Pennant. Here's hoping the RNLI are not needed for that trophy event!

Encouraging the juniors has paid off August always sees the club at its busiest, with many of the members making the most of their holidays to join in a wide range of events.
