Cyclops Marine 2023 November - LEADERBOARD

Electric boat leader X Shore signs new CCO and adds new board members

by X Shore 18 Oct 2022 12:45 BST

X Shore, the Swedish climate technology company behind a game-changing generation of fully-electric, silent, connected boats, has announced that Johan Åström has joined as Chief Commercial Officer whilst Jon Roskill and Stefan Krause are to join the board. Roskill replaces Susanna Campbell as Chair of the Board.

The announcement closely follows the launch of the new X Shore 1, heralded a price parity moment for the electric boating industry. The new craft enters the market at €99,000 (excl. VAT), around a third of the price of other high-performance electric boat models. X Shore's mission to widen access and thus enable a faster transition to electric boats is well under way.

Johan Åström brings an international outlook and experience scaling teams and services in new markets. He joins from Swedish electric vehicle company Radinn, where he was CCO and established the company in North America.

Before Radinn, Åström worked at Education First for over a decade, in numerous senior positions, all over the world. Initially a senior member of the operations team in London, Åström then led sales for Italy and Sweden before moving to Vietnam for a two year spell as general manager. He then returned to London as director of operations before launching EF's adult travel business in Canada. His ultimate position at EF was VP financial planning and strategy in Zürich.

Jon Roskill is an expert in leading rapidly growing companies. He was at Microsoft from 1999 until 2013 and his last role was Corporate VP, worldwide partner group. Post-Microsoft, Roskill was CEO of the world's fastest-growing cloud ERP provider, Acumatica. He is currently a senior adviser at global investment company EQT Group.

Stefan Krause brings a wealth of experience from his long career in the automotive industry. His storied career includes: president and CEO of BMW Financial Services; chair of Rolls-Royce; member of the management board and CFO of BMW Group; chair of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas; and member of the management board and CFO of Deutsche Bank. Krause is currently CIO and CFO of Levere Holdings as well as chair and CEO of fleet electrification service provider B-ON.

Welcoming Åström, Roskill and Krause to X Shore, CEO Jenny Keisu said: "I am delighted to welcome Jon, Stefan and Johan to the X Shore team. I would like to thank Susanna Campbell for her invaluable contribution to the company. X Shore is moving forward at an exceptional pace and we are excited to continue the positive momentum following the successful launch of the X Shore 1, which has been very well received by the market."

New Chair of the Board Jon Roskill added: "X Shore is in a very interesting phase of its growth journey and to be part of that step, with a greater focus on North America, is a unique opportunity I couldn't turn down. My hope is that I will contribute to the company's success with my experience of scaling fast growing tech companies and my passion for the ocean and minimising carbon emissions in the world."

On joining X Shore, new CCO Johan Åström said: "X Shore is a company which commands respect globally for its dedication to the mission of electrifying boating. I am extremely excited to join at such an exciting time, and to build upon the company's recent success, such as the launch of the X Shore 1."
