J/111 North American Championship at Lakeside Yacht Club - Day 2

by Julie & Christopher Howell 30 Sep 2022 00:59 BST September 26 - October 1, 2022

Three races were completed Thursday at the J/111 North American Championship hosted by Lakeside Yacht Club in Cleveland, Ohio. Winds ranged from 13-17 knots and waves subsided to two feet. Peter Wagner's Skeleton Key locked in two bullets and a second to take over the lead after five races (9 points). Rob Ruhlman's Spaceman Spiff and Andrew & Segdwick Ward's Bravo are tied at 16 points for second and third place.

Reigning J/111 World Champion Wagner's Skeleton Key was victorious in races three and four. Trailed first by Bill & Jackie Baxter's Fireball and Jeff Davis' Shamrock; then by Ward's Bravo and Davis' Shamrock. In the day's final contest, it was Ruhlman's Spaceman Spiff for the win, while Wagner settled for second and Davis was again third.

Racing continues through Saturday for the eight boats. Complete results are available here.
