INDIGO WORLDS SHAKE-DOWN TO ELITE TEAMS
After almost 200 races in Dun Laoghaire Harbour (Dublin, Ireland) the top eight teams have now qualified for the quarter finals of the Indigo ISAF World Team Racing Championship. This series commences at 16.30 (local) and
each team will sail two of five scheduled races against its drawn opponent.
The following is the quarter final draw:
USA1 v. USA2
AUS1 v. AUS2
NZL v. IRL1
CAN v. GBR1
As only one team per nation is permitted to proceed beyonf the quarter final stage, the United States and Australia will sail off against each other at this point. A sail-off between the two British teams had appeared certain but a surprise win by Canada in the Gold fleet round robin saw GBR2 narrowly miss this round.
Tomorrow (Saturday) sees the conclusion of the quarter-finals followed immediately by the semis and final in the afternoon. The best of five races at each final stage counts. Meanwhile, a Silver fleet round robin is
also being sailed to determine an overall winner for this fleet.
