9 - 10 September
The last event of the Scottish Topper Traveller Series was held at Prestwick Sailing Club amidst glorious sunshine and, on Saturday at least, perfect sailing conditions. For the culinary among us, Sunday had all the ingredients but a pinch more wind would have finished the dish off!
Going into this event points for the series were very tight, with six sailors having the potential to win overall. In the end the event winner at Prestwick, Lynn Crichton, Clyde Cruising Club, came from 6th overall to win the series outright, a point ahead of top boy Moray Clark, RNCYC.
In terms of the weekend at Prestwick, Lynn showed her intentions with a win in the first race. Ben Wilcox, East Lothian YC another contender, did similar in the second race with a good win, followed by Rona Young Tarbert Loch Fyne YC in the third!
On Sunday morning in lighter condition, Lynn continued where she left off with an impressive first. In the last race of the day confusion about a shortened course resulted in a skewed set of results, but a welcomed, if somewhat embarrassing win for Kian Sterritt, Spey Valley SC.
Lynn Crichton thanks the club for an excellent event and wished all sailors well in their quest for squad places.
