Headlines:

  • Small delay before racing gets under way on the first day of the Worlds
  • All fleets complete the scheduled three races
  • Steady 11-16 knot wind from the south for all fleets
  • Emma Wilson takes a race win and two eighth places to sit second overall
  • Tom Squires leads British men in 13th
  • Slow start from Andy Brown before a fourth puts the Scot in 18th overall
  • Kieran Martin completes the British line up in 28th position

What they said: Emma Wilson (20, Christchurch, Dorset)

"I had three good races. In the top ten in all of them and the second race I won. It was a pretty good day. This venue is so tricky and people were all over the place. Everyone doesn't want to mess it up on the first day and thankfully I didn't do that."

What they said: Tom Squires (26, Kingston Bagpuize, Oxfordshire)

"I could have had a shocker today so I'm happy I didn't. It's good for the start of the championships, I'm feeling quick but I need to be more confident on the start line and smash some starts.

"I think it will be storm chasing tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that. It's my kind of conditions. Just got to make sure I don't fall in and I'll be alright."

What they said: Andy Brown (20, Glasgow, Scotland)

"I didn't execute quite what I wanted. It was a bit all over the place in the first two starts but I got it together in the last race with a fourth so that pulled me back into the mix. Pleased with the last race and pleased with my speed but unfortunately the scores don't quite show the potential that was there."
