NSW State Awards marks the next Barranjoey Pin Presentation

The latest group of eligible sailors have received their Barranjoey Pins during an exciting evening that also saw the NSW State Awards being presented.
Held at Cruising Yacht Club of Australia last weekend, eleven distinguished athletes were presented with their Pins by Australian Sailing Vice President and Pin recipient #85, Sarah Kenny, who spoke of the importance of highlighting the outstanding achievements of past Australian representatives.
Initiated in early 2018, the Barranjoey Pin has been designed to acknowledge the legacy and history of Olympic and Paralympic class sailing in Australia and to recognise the achievements of those who have competed and continue to compete at the highest level for Australia in sailing
Proceedings opened with recipient #36 and two-time Olympian, Sir James Hardy, receiving his pin after competing at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games in Enoshima Bay, fittingly, the same venue for the Tokyo 2020 Games. Closing out the presentation was Jonathan Harris OAM, who claimed gold in the Mixed Three Person Sonar at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The full list of latest recipients includes:
Recipient #36 - Sir James Hardy. A two-time Olympian, first at the Tokyo 1964 Games and four years later at the 1968 Mexico Games in the 5.5 Class.
Recipient #48 - Denis O'Neil. Competed in the Soling at the 1972 Olympics in Munich alongside Robert Miller and Ken Berkeley and the 1976 Games in Montreal with David Forbes and John Anderson.
Recipient #52 - Mark Bethwaite. Competed in the Flying Dutchman class at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games and 1976 Games in Montreal.
Recipient #53 - Rob Thornton. Competed in the two-man Tempest class alongside Gordon Ingate at the 1972 Munich Games.
Recipient #110 - Jacqueline Ellis. An Australian representative at multiple Laser Radial Worlds, claiming two Gold medals, a Silver and Bronze between 1988 and 1996.
Recipient #120 - Andrew Landenberger. Represented Australia at the 1996 Olympic Games, sailing in the Tornado Class alongside Mitch Booth where they claimed a Silver medal and Australia's best result in sailing since 1972.
Recipient #44 - Joshua Grace. Represented Australia in the Soling class at the Sydney 2000 Olympics alongside teammates David Edwards and Neville Whitey.
Recipient #162 - Angela Farrell. Competing in the Yngling class, Angela first represented Australia at the 2006 World Championships and made her Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games.
Recipient #187 - Jonathan Harris. Competed at the 2012 London Games finishing in 6th palce overall, however followed this up with a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Further Barranjoey Pin Presentations will continue around the country, with Queensland set to be held Saturday 20 July and Tasmania Saturday 3 August.
