There's just over one week to go until the English Braids Falmouth Classics 2019 and the young people of Falmouth have been working hard to help to make this year one of the very best yet.

Keith Tullett, Chairman of the Falmouth Classics Association said "We're hugely grateful to our young supporters for all their help to make this a truly incredible event. It's fantastic to see so many young people wanting to take part this year."

From FXU Sailing Club, 14 university students will be helping with mooring visiting boats and giving the public a warm welcome on Saturday at the Falmouth Haven pontoon. They will also be helping in the Tilley Maritime Village and with the Small Boat Parade.

A group from The Falmouth Navy Sea Cadets will also be helping with the Small Boat Parade, as well as taking part, so give them a wave when you spot them. Visit the students from Falmouth Marine School, who will be giving demonstrations on their stand at the Tilley Maritime Village throughout the event.

Students from the Falmouth Institute of Photography with be recording the event, capturing the very best of the iconic Classics in stunning photographs. During the event you may see them on the Falmouth Haven pontoon, Greenbank Hotel Pier and viewpoints around the town.

This year, visitors will also see more Royal Navy boats in port during the Classics, with three vessels taking part and assisting with the event.

The Parade of Sail and Power on Sunday 16th June will be led by two Royal Navy Patrol Boats; HMS Trumpeter, an Archer-class P2000-type patrol and training vessel of the British Royal Navy assigned to Cambridge University Royal Naval Unit, and HMS Biter, an Archer P2000 patrol vessel, based in Liverpool and providing sea training for the Manchester and Salford University Royal Navy Unit. HMS Middleton will be in the port for the duration of the event, and is a Hunt-class mine countermeasures vessel based in Portsmouth, which has served in the Persian Gulf.
