As Race Crew embark on their final level of training, they will be kitted out by the world's leading sailing brand, Musto. After using the red BR2 kit during the first three levels, it's time for the crew to graduate to their own set of gold Musto HPX GORE-TEX Pro Series Smock and Trousers to protect them during the Clipper 2019-20 Race and beyond.

Musto, the Clipper Race Technical Clothing Partner, is providing each crew member with a clothing package which includes the specially designed and modified HPX foul weather gear, alongside other core items of technical clothing.

Explaining what drives innovation at Musto, Shane Rhone, Sailing Design Manager, says: "We are really excited about our new partnership with the Clipper Race, it's going to provide another platform to test and innovate our kit. This opportunity alongside our relationship with GORE-TEX is going to ensure we remain at the forefront of offshore sailing."

Engineered from the toughest GORE-TEX Pro fabric and with an Ocean Technology® membrane and GORE-TEX Micro Grid Backer, the HPX Pro Series Smock and Trouser offers superior water and windproof protection, as well as impeccable breathability. Proven in the most hostile conditions, the Musto HPX will keep the crew warm and dry, no matter the conditions, as they race across some of the world's toughest oceans.

Here Shane takes a behind-the-scene look into what goes into designing, producing, and testing the Musto HPX for Clipper 2019-20 Race crew.

As the final stages of training commences, some 700 crew members will receive their Musto HPX kit and wear it for the first time on the water over the next few weeks, all in preparation for Race Start in London on 1 September 2019.

Race Crew have to undergo four intensive levels of training to take part in the race. The Clipper Race Training programme equips everyday people with the skills needed to become competent, safe, and effective ocean race crew. The final level of training, Level 4, cements everything that crew have learnt in the three previous levels but for the first time, they will be on board with their Race Skipper and fellow teammates.
