GJW Direct Abersoch Dinghy Week is excited to announce that this year, not only has it introduced a Catamaran Class, it is also now offering a Coached Regatta Fleet.

The Coached Regatta Fleet will be open to Oppies, Toppers and RS Teras and is aimed at younger sailors who have done some, but not much, sailing, whether on inland waters or the sea. The entry fee of £50 (£40 for siblings) will cover 5 half days (Mon - Fri) of racing round a short course off the beach, under the supervision of an RYA qualified instructor. The idea is to give beginners some experience of open water racing in a non-threatening, fun environment.

For more information see the Coached Regatta Fleet Notice of Race on the link below.

South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club is proud to have hosted Abersoch Dinghy Week for 47 years. "Brilliant" and "a classic week" are just two of the accolades from 2018. And SCYC is determined to make 2019 even better.

The week schedules six races over six days in morning or afternoon sessions, leaving competitors free to enjoy time with family and friends when they are not racing. Dinghies are organised into mixed handicapped fleets or single class fleets, as follows:

  • Asymmetric (Int. 14, RS800, 700, 500, Cherub, Laser 4000, 49er etc.)
  • Catamaran Class (New for 2019)
  • Fast mixed handicap
  • Fireballs
  • Intermediate Fleet (Formally TTFM) Topper / Feva / Mirror (or Miracle)) (aimed at bringing younger sailors together)
  • Lasers (incl. Radial and 4.7)
  • Moths (low-rider, foiling etc)
  • Phantoms
  • RS200
  • RS400
  • Single-handers (Aero, D-Zero, Blaze, RS100, 300, 600, etc.)
  • Slow mixed handicap
  • Solos

SCYC and its facilities (The Cove Restaurant, bar, sun terrace, changing rooms, showers) are available to competitors and their families and friends for the whole week. The event boasts a lively social programme including a beach barbecue and games, dinghy drive, happy hours and the ever popular Elephant Juice playing in the Club bar.

Early bird discount is available until Saturday 1st June: webcollect.org.uk/scyc/category/scyc-dinghy-week-2019
