SCYC is proud to have organised and hosted SCYC Abersoch Dinghy Week for 47 years. "Brilliant" and "a classic week" are just two of the accolades from 2018. And we want to make 2019 even better.

The spectacular waters of Cardigan Bay and Abersoch's golden sandy beaches allow us to offer an enviable week of racing for dinghy sailors, with families welcomed, and a host of other activities available in the area for none sailors.

The week schedules six races over six days in morning or afternoon sessions, leaving you free to enjoy time with family and friends when you are not racing. Dinghies are organised into mixed handicapped fleets or single class fleets, as follows:

  • Introducing for 2019 a Catamaran class
  • Asymmetric (International 14, RS800, RS700, RS500, Cherub, Laser 4000, 49er etc.)
  • Single-handers (Aero, D-Zero, Blaze, RS100, RS300, RS600, etc.)
  • Fast mixed handicap
  • Slow mixed handicap
  • TTFMM (Topper / Tera / Feva / Mirror / Miracle)
  • Solos
  • RS200
  • Phantoms
  • RS400
  • Lasers (including Radial and 4.7)
  • Foiling Moths
  • Fireballs
Separate starts are offered for single class fleets with sufficient numbers.

The club and its facilities (restaurant, bar, sun terrace, changing rooms, showers) are available to competitors and their families and friends for the whole week, and we aim to offer a lively social scene including the Commodore's welcome drinks, a Spanish night offered by The Cove Restaurant, Beach BBQ and games, happy hours, bar (sailing) games and the famous Elephant Juice band night.

There is plenty of accommodation available in Abersoch village within easy walking distance of the beach and SCYC. Suggested websites to investigate places to stay:
