Antigua Salcombe Regatta 2019

Once again Salcombe Yacht Club sailors held their biennial invitational regatta at Nonsuch Bay Resort, sailing the RS Elites. This year the closeness of the racing was more assured with equally aged sails and classic trade wind conditions.

With ten races sailed over five days with one discard the final day saw Tim Law needing to hold off challenges by Ossie Stewart and Poul Hoj-Jensen.

The final days conditions after boats were drawn ensuring no one sailed a boat twice was uncharacteristic with low wind strength and drizzle.

The top three positions were as follows; 1st Tim and Bernadette Law 2nd Poul Hoj-Jensen and Andrew Stirling 3rd Ossie and Karen Stewart.

It is hoped a future event might include the additional four RS Elites now sailing at Jumby Bay. Antigua remains a wonderful place to enjoy winter racing.

Three days of very different racing before and after Christmas Eleven competitors, mainly in Solos, turned up for the first race of the Salcombe Yacht Club Festive Series 2023/24 on Saturday 23rd December.
