Bear of Britain Yachting Academy looking for recruits

by Ben Willows 23 Mar 2006 20:08 GMT

The Bear of Britain Yachting Academy has joined forces with the UK Sailing Academy and Peter Harrison to form a brand new Yacht Racing Academy for 2006.

The aims of the Yacht Racing Academy are the same as what Kit Hobday has achieved with his Yacht Bear of Britain over the last 4 years. This is to take young people from a variety of backgrounds through an intensive training programme to establish if they have the “right stuff” to become one of Britain’s top yacht racing crew. To provide them with the right mentoring and guidance to ensure that they reach their full potential and to provide them with access to a sport that traditionally has been very difficult to break into.

Once selected the successful crew members will have the opportunity to sail aboard Bear of Britain and Chernikeeff 2 – two of Britain’s top racing yachts with a proven track record of National and International wins.

There are still places available on the selection academy that starts on the 7th April. The selection program runs for 2 weeks and will be based out of UKSA and is totally free of charge.
