Four boats took to the water on Tuesday evening down at Lairwell – racing on a lovely sunny evening with a gentle E/SE force 2/3 breeze.

The race officer of the day experimented using a start line skewed from the normal with an ODM which was not entirely successful, but a useful exercise. Jim Galloway helming his Solo took an early lead of a triangular course followed by the Streaker of John Ferguson then the RS Aero of Euan Macdonald. Neil Hughes helming a Mirror experienced gearing problems and was sadly unable to complete even the first round and retired. Euan managed to pull ahead of Jim and John during the second round, but Euan pulled ahead again to cross the finish line ahead of John with Jim in 3rd position.

Three boats entered for the second race of the day, Euan taking an early lead ahead of Jim and John, the position remaining unchanged throughout the three rounds. First over the line was Euan followed by Jim with John in 3rd position.

Saturday saw resumption of the RYA Training course overseen by Club Principal Rick Raeburn followed by the assessment and presentation of Certificates on Sunday. Commodore Bob Watson presented Youth training certificates to Jaden Latham-Buchanan, Jamie Esdale, Orry Graham and Angus Burrows and the adults awarded RYA Level Two Certificates to Karolina Ratajczak, Kiera Stewart, Felicity Graham, James Curley and Jacob McCauley. This was followed by a barbeque attended by their friends and family and many members of the Club.

Grateful thanks must go to the Club's RYA instructors, the safety boat teams, Eric Taylor for keeping the Club ship-shape for the duration of the course and for organising the BBQ and all who provided such a fantastic array of food that was enjoyed by all in the sunshine. Thanks also to the staff at Strathearn Community Campus in Crieff for the use of their pool for the trainees capsize drill which was greatly appreciated.
